Our Taxi Guides

As well as having completed the world famous “Knowledge of London”, the stringent study and exam process that all London taxi drivers must go through, all our Taxi Guides have a formal qualification and badge issued by the Worshipful Company of Hackney Carriage Drivers. Some drivers have enhanced qualifications and are Westminster, Clerkenwell and Islington or City of London qualified Guides. You can read all about our guides below.

Meet The Guides

Ray Coggin

ray-coggin
Ray came into to the Taxi business quite late in life, having been involved in the courier business during the 1980’s and 90’s. Previously a train driver, Ray could be said to have been involved in transport for most of his working life.

Married to Liz for over forty years with three children and five grandchildren, Ray has interests too varied to list. These include, collecting old diesel engines, football, learning about Japanese language and culture, travel, railways, canals and history.

After studying the Knowledge of London to become one of London’s world renowned taxi drivers, he then took a further course to become a qualified Taxi Guide. Further inspired and with a latent lust for learning he spent another year studying to become a City of Westminster Tour Guide, gaining a diploma from the University of Westminster.

Andrew Wilcox

taxi tour London - Guide
Andrew a native of North London, is one of our most experienced tour guides. He loves football, reads a great deal and is a qualified Taxi Guide and also a Clerkenwell and Islington guide. Andrew always takes his job as a cabbie seriously. You are unlikely to find anyone with a greater knowledge of London and its great history than Andrew. His knowledge of history goes far beyond London and he will be able to give you a great insight into some of the characters he describes.

Ask Andrew what his favourite things are and he will answer without hesitation, “My family”. However, a close second is his love for London.
